On Tuesday, 10 December 2024, the Muriel Matters Society hosted a Global Peace Rally, during which three minutes of silence were observed in support of Global Peace.

Around 40 people attended the event, including South Australian Member of Parliament The Hon Frank Pangallo MLC and media from ABC TV.

The event launched the Global Peace Petition, which has been arranged to be presented to the SA Legislative Council in early 2025 by Mr Pangallo.

The aim is to collect 10,000 signatures, which will hopefully progress and pass a motion introduced by Mr Pangallo on 27 November 2024. The motion will recognise the human right of all people to a safe existence and acknowledge the importance of Global Peace, which has been learnt through the devastation of past conflicts.

This continues the work of Muriel Matters, who, in 1915, organised a Peace Conference calling for global peace and an end to conflicts. In these turbulent times. So, let’s come together to end suffering and continue Muriel’s vision of achieving global peace.
