In conjunction with the Global Peace Rally held in Adelaide on Tuesday, 10 December 2024, the Muriel Matters Society, with the help of South Australian Member of Parliament, The Hon Frank Pangallo MLC, have arranged a petition which is to be presented to the SA Legislative Council in early 2025.

The aim is to collect 10,000 signatures, which will hopefully progress and pass a motion introduced by Mr Pangallo on 27 November 2024. The motion will recognise the human right of all people to a safe existence and acknowledge the importance of Global Peace, which has been learnt through the devastation of past conflicts.

This continues the work of Muriel Matters, who, in 1915, organised a Peace Conference calling for global peace and an end to conflicts. In these turbulent times. So, let’s come together to end suffering and continue Muriel’s vision of achieving global peace.

Text of the Petition:
“That we live in internationally turbulent times and are witness to the destructive consequences being endured by those living in war zones throughout the world. We believe every member of every community needs to come together in support of global peace. Your petitioners, therefore, request that your Honourable House pass a motion recognising the human right of all people to a safe existence and acknowledging the importance of Global Peace—learnt through the devastation of past conflicts.”
