Earlier in the year the Secretary of the Muriel Matters Society, Frances Bedford MP, talked with Jane Hartnell, the Director of Corporate Services and Governance at the Hastings Borough Council. They discussed all things Muriel – including her upbringing, political agitation, and life in Hastings. Underlining the conversation throughout is the ongoing importance of democracy and political activism as a force for change in the world. 2018 was a big year for our friends in Hastings as they celebrated Vote 100, the centenary of partial female suffrage in the UK. Muriel spend much of her later life in the seaside town of Hastings and we are ever grateful for their continuing support!
