(2019) Glasgow Women’s Library, Glasgow

In this Glasgow Women’s Library Vote 100: The Moving Story Project to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the UK Representation of the People Act, we follow the journey of Muriel.

Muriel Matters, 1877-1969 “I am Muriel Matters, an actor, singer and suffragette. I was born in Australia and moved to the UK. I once sailed over London in an airship with ‘Votes for Women’ on the side, dropping leaflets. I was sent to prison after chaining myself to a screen in the Ladies’ Gallery of the House of Commons and spent most of my time there in solitary confinement.
