For those who were present at the filming of ‘A Suffrage Trilogy’ you would have heard from Dawn Giddings from the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union of South Australia (WCTU) about an event they are organizing for the History Festival. They will have a display relating to women reformers who were prominent in South Australian politics from 1886 to the present day. Any student of women’s suffrage in this state will know the prominent role the WCTU played in agitating for female suffrage (particularly through the work of Elizabeth Webb Nichols). MMS members and the general public are encouraged to get along and see their display.
The opening of the WCTU’s display will be held at WCTU Headquarters (255 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Cowandilla) at 10am on Tuesday 1 May. Morning tea will be provided and the National President of the WCTU will also be there. For full details of the event see the invitation below.
